#ProtectAllWomen, Center for American Progress – provides information on the intersection between domestic violence and gun laws in all 50 states. Specifically, this new site shows where laws can be strengthened and provides links to download comprehensive fact sheets (developed by CAP and the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence) and other social media tools for each state.
50 for the Future, End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin – since 2000, at least 50 Wisconsinites have been killed in domestic violence homicides when the perpetrator was legally prohibited from possessing the firearm. Would background checks have prevented all of the tragedies? No. But undoubtedly, background checks would have made a difference in some of the cases. We hope that these 50 stories will spark change for a more peaceful future ~ 50 for the Future, Madison, WI.

Through collaboration with experts, civic leaders, and citizens, we work to find evidenced-based solutions to the crisis of gun violence in our community. We create innovative policy, advocate for changes in laws, and promote community education to reduce gun violence.
Americans for Responsible Solutions – former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her husband, retired Navy Captain and astronaut Mark Kelly, launched Americans for Responsible Solutions to encourage elected officials to stand up for solutions to prevent gun violence and protect responsible gun ownership. As gun owners and strong supporters of the Second Amendment, Gabby and Mark know we must protect the rights of Americans to own guns for collection, recreation, and protection. But they also agree with the vast majority of Americans, including gun owners, that commonsense protections from gun violence can prevent shootings from shattering communities like Tucson, Aurora, and Newtown. Even commonsense solutions to protect our communities from gun violence have been hard to achieve. Why? Because entrenched interests like the gun lobby have used big money and influence to stop Congress from acting. Until now, the gun lobby’s political contributions, advertising and lobbying have dwarfed the influence of average, law abiding citizens. No longer. With Americans for Responsible Solutions and likeminded friends engaging millions of people about ways to reduce gun violence and supporting lawmakers willing to take a stand for responsible policies, legislators will no longer have reason to fear the gun lobby and their dangerously deep pockets, Washington, DC.
Asking Saves Kids – in America, one out of three homes with children has a gun, and nearly 1.7 million children live in a home with a loaded, unlocked gun. Every year thousands of kids are killed and injured as a result. The ASK (Asking Saves Kids) Campaign promotes a simple idea with the potential to help keep kids safe. It encourages parents to ASK if there is an unlocked gun in the homes where their children play. Parents ask all sorts of questions before their children visit other homes. They ask about pets in the house, discuss allergies and Internet access, and ask questions about supervision. ASK encourages parents to add one more question to this conversation: “Is there an unlocked gun in your house?” It’s a simple question, but it has the power to save a child’s life. Every parent cares about the safety of their children. ASK allows parents to play an active role in keeping kids safe. Any parent can make a difference by ASKing, and encouraging others to do the same. For more than a decade, the ASK Campaign and its supporters have partnered with over 400 grassroots organizations to spread its message in neighborhoods nationwide. The ASK Campaign is a collaboration between the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence and the American Academy of Pediatrics who has promoted the ASK message to its 62,000 members across the country.
