Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers – is a nonprofit, interdisciplinary organization. ATSA was founded to foster research, facilitate information exchange, further professional education and provide for the advancement of professional standards and practices in the field of sexual offender evaluation and treatment. ATSA is an international organization focused specifically on the prevention of sexual abuse through effective management of sex offenders, Beaverton, OR.
Center for Sex Offender Management – their goal is to enhance public safety by preventing further victimization through improving the management of adult and juvenile sex offenders who are in the community. CSOM is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, in collaboration with the National Institute of Corrections, State Justice Institute, and the American Probation and Parole Association, Silver Spring, MD.
Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Website, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Justice – is a cooperative effort between Jurisdictions hosting public sex offender registries ("Jurisdictions") and the federal government. These Jurisdictions include the 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, the District of Columbia, and participating tribes. This Website is a search tool allowing a user to submit a single national query to obtain information about sex offenders through a number of search options, Washington, DC.
Office of Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking – the SMART Office, of the Office of Justice Programs, U.S.Department of Justice, was authorized by the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 to: administer the standards for the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Program set forth in Title 1 of the Adam Walsh Act; administer grant programs relating to sex offender registration and notification authorized by the Adam Walsh Act and other grant programs authorized by the Adam Walsh Act as directed by the Attorney General; and cooperate with and provide technical assistance to states, the District of Columbia, principle U.S. territories, units of local government, tribal governments, and other public and private entities involved in activities related to sex offender registration or notification or to other measures for the protection of children or other members of the public from sexual abuse or exploitation. Parents for Megan's Law and The Crime Victims Center – a not-for-profit 501(c)3 community and victim's rights organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of sexual abuse through the provision of education, advocacy, counseling, victim services, policy and legislative support services. We staff the local and National (1-888-ASK-PFML) Megan's Law Help lines. PFML has recently expanded its mission to include the new Crime Victims Center, a program designed to link all victims of violent crime with crime victim compensation and multi-agency referrals for support and assistance, Stony Brook, NY.
